Vessel Positions:

Captain/Pilot: This position requires a current U.S.C.G. license as a Master or Operator of un-inspected towing vessels endorsed for service on the inland waterways. The responsibilities of the position are the safe and efficient operation and performance of the crew, vessel, barges and cargo. The pilot will assume these responsibilities while serving as watch-stander in the absence of the Captain.

Engineer: This person is responsible for the safe operation and efficient maintenance of all vessel machinery and equipment and the necessary fuel, oil and bilge water transfers.

Deckhand: This person is responsible for making and inspecting tows, locking, painting and cleaning in a safe and efficient manner in conformity with all Company safety rules and policies.

Landside Positions:

Fitter/Welder: Must be able to pass a basic welding and burning test.

3. I agree that my employment may be terminated by this Company at any time without liability for wages or salary except such as may have been earned at the date of such termination. If requested by the management at any time, I agree to submit to search of my person or of any locker that may be assigned to me, and I hereby waive all claims for damages as a result of such examination. I understand and agree that I may be required to take a physical examination, at company expense, after offer of employment to determine if I am physically fit for the job I am to perform, and I authorize any physician or hospital to release any information which may be necessary to determine my ability to perform the duties of a job I am being considered for subsequent to employment or in the future during employment with the company.

4. Although management makes every effort to accommodate individual preferences, business needs may at times make the following conditions mandatory: overtime, shift work, a rotating work schedule other than Monday through Friday. I understand and accept these as conditions of my continuing employment.

5. I understand that as a pre-requisite for employment by this Company, I must submit to both a drug test and a physical. Furthermore, I am aware that if for any reasons I decide to terminate my employment within the first 6 months from my date of hire, the cost for both the drug test and physical will be deducted from my pay.

6. In addition, I must have a means of transportation to and from work for any shift that I am put on, and have a means of communication, such as a telephone, so that I can be contacted.

7. I understand that if I am employed, such employment is an indefinite period of time and that the company can change wages, benefits and conditions at any time.
DISCHARGE OF OIL PROHIBITED
The Federal Water Pollution Control Act prohibits the discharge of oil or oily waste into or upon the navigable water of the United States or the waters of the contiguous zone if such discharge causes a film or sheen upon, a discoloration on the surface of the water or causes a sludge or emulsion beneath the surface of the water. Violators are subject to substantial civil penalties and/or criminal sanctions including fines and imprisonment.

DISCHARGE OF GARBAGE IN THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT

1. The discharge of plastic or garbage mixed with plastic into any waters is prohibited.

2. The discharge of all garbage is prohibited in the navigable waters of the United States and, in all other waters, within 3 nautical miles of the nearest land.

3. The discharge of dunnage, lining, and packing materials that float is prohibited within 25 nautical miles of the nearest land.

4. Other unground garbage may be discharged beyond 12 nautical mile from the nearest land.

5. Other garbage ground to less than one inch may be discharge beyond three nautical miles of the nearest land.

6. A person who violates the above requirements is liable for a civil penalty of up to $25,000.00, a fine of up to $50,000.00, and imprisonment for up to five years for each violation.

7. Regional, State and local restrictions on garbage discharges also may apply.
