Our Mission:

It is the mission of Campbell Transportation Company (CTC) and its wholly owned subsidiary, C&C Marine Maintenance Company (C&C) to provide efficient and reliable marine transportation of bulk cargoes and marine repairs with total quality management where safety is first.  CTC and C&C shall commit its resources to safe and environmentally sound operating practices and procedures that will result in providing our employees with a safe work environment and our customers with assurance of safe, dependable service.

Our Operations:

CTC and C&C specializes in developing marine transportation, harbor and marine/industrial service solutions for a wide range of customers – big or small, marine or industrial, spot or long-term, bid or time/material, our barges or yours.  It is our goal to provide flexible options to all of our customers with a focus on superior service at competitive rates.

CTC and C&C provides full-service contract, third-party and tramp marine transportation services in our service area which includes the entire length of the Ohio River from Pittsburgh, PA to Cairo, IL and the Allegheny, Monongahela, Kanawha, Big Sandy and the Lower Tennessee Rivers.

CTC and C&C transports an estimated 20 million tons of various commodities annually in our barges and for tramp barge customers.  The majority of our shipments are coal.  However, we transport limestone, salt, cement, aggregates, steel products, bulk liquids and various other bulk commodities for our customers.

CTC and C&C operates 37 motor vessels ranging in size from 200HP to 5,000HP and a 500 barge fleet, comprised of 30 standards barges (175’x26’x11’),  170 stumbo barges (195’x26’x11’),  290 jumbo open hopper barges (195’x35’x12’/13’) and 10 jumbo covered hopper barges (195’x35’x13’).  Our growing fleet of jumbo hopper barges has an average age of 10 years.

CTC and C&C performs harbor services and marine/industrial services at our extensive operations concentrated in the Upper Ohio River area from Pittsburgh, PA to Huntington, WV.  Our fleets and facilities are strategically located to serve our operations and to provide a wide range of harbor, marine and industrial services to our customers.  Our harbor, marine and industrial services include fleeting, shifting, harbor management, underwater/topside motor vessel and barge repairs, dry cargo barge cleaning, crane services, motor vessel re-powering /rehabilitation, fabrication and new construction.

CTC and C&C employs over 400 highly trained and skilled professionals who are the cornerstone of our operations and are dedicated to quality service and customer satisfaction.  Our organic approach to careers in our operations has resulted in an experienced management group and workforce with a solid commitment to the tradition of excellence that has been instilled in every generation of our employees. 

Our History:

Campbell Transportation Company, Inc. has a long history of ingenuity, reliability and integrity.

The company has over 80 years of continuous operation. As a privately held, well capitalized and financially stable organization Campbell has a long-term perspective embedded into their business philosophy and strategy. Campbell values long term relationships with customers, employees and vendors. The strong board of outside directors bring varied experience and valuable insights to the management team.

C&C was founded in the mid-1960's at its current location at Georgetown, Pennsylvania, below the Montgomery lock at mile 39.5 on the Ohio River.

In 2009, Campbell Transportation Company, Inc. consolidated its operations into its new corporate headquarters in the Pittsburgh area near Houston, Pennsylvania.
